Specialty Classes Offered @ Youngstown all breed training

Canine conditioning is important for all dogs, but particularly for our canine athletes. Through specific exercises we can improve body awareness, flexibility, balance, speed, mobility and muscular strength – which overall improves our dog’s performance and reduces their risk of injury. As well, conditioning increases our dog's ability to carry load on their muscles. This is important as injuries occur when muscles experience excessive lengthening and stretching that are unprepared for such a load.  Another factor in injuries is fatigue in the muscles which causes our dogs to lose their ability to maintain position or cause stumbles and falls. While exercise like long walks or running in the back yard are good for maintaining large muscle groups the deeper muscles which activate when our dog loses balance or tries to avoid slipping are often neglected and are often the areas, we see greater injury in.

Conditioning exercises not only have physical benefits to your dog but also mental ones! They are a great way to strengthen the bond you have with your dog – they love playing with you!

AKC Trick Dog is one of AKC’s most popular training programs because trick training is fun for both dogs and their trainers. You can teach your dog tricks yourself, or you can go to a training class.

Tricks are behaviors that are designed to entertain others. AKC Trick Dog ranges from very simple novice tricks such as teaching your dog to get in a box on cue, to complex tricks that are several behaviors chained together in one exciting sequence.  Get ready to wow your friends with your dog’s tricks!

Cost of 6-week course is $50 for YABTC members, $100 for non-members

Want to build a solid foundation for obedience with your dog? Come join us for our Competition Obedience Foundations Class at YABTC! This class is designed to help you develop the essential skills that every dog and handler team needs—preparing for obedience or rally competition.

📅 Class Dates: 

• May 27 to August 12 

OR 

• September 2 to November 18

⏰ Time: 7:00 PM

📆 Length: 12-Week Course - minimum age 3 months.

In this class we will focus on:

• Engagement and focus between dog and handler

• Proper position and foundation skills for obedience work

• Building reliable behaviors through clear communication

• Strengthening your dog’s understanding of basic obedience concepts

• Developing teamwork and confidence for both dog and handler

This class is perfect for those who want to start their obedience journey the right way by building strong fundamentals that future training can grow from.

💲 Cost:

• Members: $100

• Non-Members: $200

📌 Important: This is not a drop-in class. Enrollment is required so that each team can progress together throughout the 12 weeks.
